YSL Glossy Stain No13

YSL Glossy Stain
In a year my makeup choices/brands have changed dramatically. YSL were never a brand I went after, never a brand I had to have until I started my blog and my whole outlook on makeup and beauty went full circle.

In November, a few weeks after starting my blog and getting more involved in blogs I noticed this obsession with a lipstick called YSL rouge volupte.  I had never heard of this but after looking at a few posts on these I was instantly in love and now when ever I am in Boots I swoon over the YSL counter, it is now my sought after higher end brand.

My mum likes to ask me what I want for Christmas so when she asked me this year I had a few YSL things that I had in mind, a glossy stain being one of them.

I am a lip product junkie and dark pink lip products are my all time fave, so I picked colour 13 a deep rich pink almost berry red.

Now stains usually are hit and miss, they are often drying, don't have any shine, are not deeply pigmented,  but then YSL glossy stain comes along and WOW is all I can say.

First impression from opening it up is it doesn't look like a stain, looks like a lip gloss.   It's a soft smooth super duper liquid.

It glides on so nicely and coats the lips in a silky highly pigmented liquid.  I first apply 1 coat, let it dry then apply a second.  This is where this comes into its own and becomes the most amazing stain/lip product I have ever used.  After you have applied it, it feels "wet" on your lips but not like it would slide off, just soft and full of moisture.  Even after an hour or two after applying this wet feel is still there in full, it feels like you have been applying it every 5 minutes, never had a product with such lasting power.  It does not dry out for hours and even when eating and drinking that high shine liquid is still there. This may be different for everyone but for me, this lasted around 4/5 hours before some of the initial wet feeling went away but still I was left with a gorgeous colour that then lasted all night.

For £23 you may think that this is a really expensive for a lip product and you could purchase 2/3 drugstore lipsticks/glosses for that price but this super duper multi function liquid is so worth it, it's like 3 products in one and with that gorgeous gold packaging it's very hard to resist!

This was the winner of best lip stain at the Cosmopolitan Beauty Award 2012 and best lip gloss at the Elle Beauty award 2012 but this is no surprise, this is a truly unique lip product and a must have for anyone.

  4. Wow, what an amazing colour! Glosses are certainly my thing, I really really want to pick one of these up, but can I justify the price? surely everyone needs a treat, and the packaging and everything certainly makes it look like you've paid the price you have for it! Beautiful.

  8. I haven't tried the glossy stains yet - I'm not sure whether they'd be my thing or not? It's difficult when you see something that looks great on other people but then are unsure as to how they'd look on you lol.
